Nebraska wins the 2022 National Bateman Case Study Competition

For the first time in the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s history, the College of Journalism and Mass Communications’ Bateman Team has won first place in the Public Relations Student Society of America Bateman Case Study Competition.

Advising team announces 2022 peer mentor cohort

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications has recently selected its new cohort of peer mentors for the 2022-2023 school year. During the First Year Experience class, a required course for all first-semester students in the college, students are assigned to a peer mentor.

Press Box learning community first to travel since the start of the pandemic

On April 30, the College of Journalism and Mass Communications Learning Community the “Press Box” traveled to Kansas City, Missouri and Kansas. The six students, in addition to Press Box mentor Alex Neill and adviser Alex Fernando, toured the Negro League Baseball Museum, visited the College Basketball Experience and attended a Sporting KC Soccer game.

New class of ambassadors announced for the 2022-2023 school year

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism has welcomed in a new class of ambassadors. Six students joined the ambassador team in January 2022, and seven students joined in April 2022.

Mark your calendar: NYC Media Tour

We haven’t been able to travel due to COVID-19, but we are bringing back the NYC Media Tour in fall 2022. Mark your calendar for Oct. 17 and 18, 2022, and join us to tour media outlets and agencies in New York City. Travel will correspond with fall break.

Three CoJMC students named spring 2022 Chancellor’s Scholars

Three students at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications have been named Chancellor’s Scholars. This is the highest academic award the University offers and this year the distinction is shared by 82 student scholars graduating this May.

Husker creates business to explore career interests and help fellow students

Sophomore advertising and public relations major and entrepreneurship minor Aditi Gunda launched her business, a videocast series called “The Business Takeaway” (TBT), at the start of 2022. Gunda was struggling to figure out a career path because she had so many interests in the public relations field.

Nebraska’s National Student Advertising Competition team wins second place at districts

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team placed second at the District 9 American Advertising Federation’s National Student Advertising Competition on April 22, 2022. The District 9 regional competitors come from colleges and universities in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri. Nine schools competed at this year’s competition.

Five students receive 2022 Omaha Press Club Scholarships
