UNL welcomes 700 Nebraska high school journalists to campus for convention

More than 755 students and teachers from 48 Nebraska high schools made their way to the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus on Oct. 17 to learn journalism and media skills from professional journalists, college educators and high school advisers.

Hands-on opportunities in sports broadcasting led Peyton Thomas to Nebraska

Throughout his college career, senior Peyton Thomas has dived head-first into opportunities on campus—from broadcasting on national television to leading multiple student groups. When he was a high schooler in Seattle, his cousin—a Nebraska student—showed him the College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the unique, hands-on projects he was working on, something Thomas hadn’t seen at other universities.

Shore was selected as September Student of the Month

The UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications Student Advisory Board voted to select Henry Shore as the inaugural Student of the Month on Sept. 29, 2022. Shore is a junior broadcasting major from Brookfield, Wisconsin.

Student editorial board members to oversee CoJMC’s media platforms

Nine students at the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications were recently chosen to serve on the CoJMC Student Editorial Board. The board launched in the spring 2022 semester and will oversee and manage student-created content on the Nebraska News Service, Nebraska Nightly, Unlimited Sports and 90.3 KRNU.

This fall, students in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications won’t have to find space for photo shoots and interviews. A new digital photography studio and multimedia classroom opened in the Agency, located on the third floor of the Lincoln Children’s Museum, on Aug. 22.
