The CoJMC is fortunate that many alumni and friends have provided scholarships, allowing the college to award more than $255,599 in scholarships annually. Robert & Todd Storz Broadcast Scholarship
The Robert & Todd Storz Broadcast Scholarship is awarded to outstanding first-year college students who major in broadcasting and demonstrate a potential for future academic success. This scholarship can be combined with other campus-wide scholarships and is renewable.
Andersen Honor Scholarship
Harold W. & Marian L. Andersen Honor Scholarship
The Harold W. & Marian L. Andersen Honor Scholarship is awarded to outstanding first-year college students who major in journalism and demonstrate potential for future academic success. This scholarship can be combined with other campus-wide scholarships and is renewable.
Amount: $12,000
Kinman Oldfield Scholarship
Kinman Oldfield Scholarship
The Kinman Oldfield Scholarship is awarded to outstanding first-year collgee students in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications who demonstrate a potential for future academic success. This scholarship can be combined with other campus-wide scholarships but this scholarship is not renewable.
How To Apply
How To Apply
In order to apply, you must:
- Have visited the College of Journalism and Mass Communications (Schedule a Campus Visit or Red Letter Day Visit)
- Apply for admission by February 1.
- Complete and submit your personal statement by February 1.
- Complete the ACT/SAT on or before the February national test date and submit scores to Nebraska.
- Submit your Enrollment Deposit in MyRED May 1.

Learning Communities
Learning Communities at UNL are designed to bring together students with a shared academic interest, future career goals, or personal identity. These communities offer a supportive "home away from home" as members live together, often on the same residence floor, fostering a tight-knit environment. Students also learn together through at least one shared class, ensuring academic support and success. They connect with fellow students, upper-division Peer Mentors, and faculty and staff who share their interests. Additionally, Learning Communities provide exclusive academic, social, and professional activities and events, helping students prepare for the future. Members also take trips throughout Nebraska and participate in community service projects, enriching their college experience. Open to any interested first-year student, Learning Communities offer a unique and supportive start to your journey at UNL.
