Fellowships for Incoming Students

CHANCELLOR'S FELLOWSHIP

The Chancellor’s fellowships provide tuition remission for full-time graduate students who have received a college assistantship.

Criteria

  • Admission to the master’s program by the priority deadline
  • Excellent academic record with excellent letters of recommendation
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in previous degree
  • Student must apply for and be offered a graduate assistantship

Award

  • $4,000 per year, automatically renewable for a second year given excellent progress toward degree
  • Recipients are selected by the CoJMC Graduate committee from the pool of newly selected graduate assistants

EDGREN FELLOWSHIP

The Edgren Graduate Tuition Fellowship provides reduced tuition remission for unfunded, domestic, non-resident graduate students. Unfunded domestic graduate students may be awarded an Edgren during the recruitment process, prior to enrollment. There is no work or service requirement associated with the fellowship.

Criteria

  • Admission to the master’s program by the priority deadline
  • Full-time (minimum 9 credit hours) each semester (fall and spring)
  • On-campus program - distance students are not eligible
  • US citizen or permanent resident - international students are not eligible
  • Excellent letters of recommendation
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA in previous degree
  • Students must have no other assistantship or tuition waiver benefit - if/when such a benefit is accepted, the Edgren will no longer be available.

Award

  • Value is approximately $7,000 per academic year and approximately $1,500 per summer, credited toward the student’s account to offset non-resident tuition.
  • Recipients are selected by the CoJMC Graduate committee from the pool of newly admitted students.

Fellowships for Advanced Students

HITCHCOCK FELLOWSHIP

The Hitchcock Graduate Fellowship is available to defer expenses related to master’s student's professional projects.

Criteria

  • Enrolled in a master’s degree program
  • Enrolled in/or planning to enroll in the final professional project for the program
  • Completion of the Hitchcock Fellowship Application, including project description and budget

Award

  • Awards are for a maximum of $5,000
  • Requested funds must be to defer expenses directly related to the completion of the project. Expenses can include equipment, travel or other direct expenses.
  • Students are limited to one award
  • Recipients are selected by the college’s graduate committee at the first meeting following the priority application deadlines
  • Fall term priority deadline: November 15
  • Spring term priority deadline: March 30
