Tuesday, May 3, 2022 - 11:30am

Three students at the College of Journalism and Mass Communications have been named Chancellor’s Scholars. This is the highest academic award the University offers and this year the distinction is shared by 82 student scholars graduating this May.

Each of these students have earned an A in every undergraduate class. They’ll be listed as Chancellor’s Scholars in the May 2022 Commencement program and each scholar will receive a Chancellor’s Scholar certificate with their diploma and a Chancellor’s Scholar pin to wear on the ribbon of their medallion.

The following are CoJMC’s 2022 Chancellor’s Scholars:

Hugh Anderson

Major: Sports Media and Communication

Hometown: Lincoln, NE

"To me, earning my spot as a Chancellor's Scholar is something I am extremely proud of. For the past four years, I have dedicated myself to my schoolwork and held a high standard when it comes to the work I produce. And earning this achievement reflects that hard work and is something I will remember forever."

Abigail Ostdiek

Major: Advertising and Public Relations

Hometown: Aurora, NE

"It has been an honor to be able to call myself a Husker for the past four years.  Not only have I been able to experience the exceptional education that the University has to offer, but I've also enjoyed being able to contribute to this environment of excellence through my work in the classroom.  I am so thankful for all of those who have mentored me along the way, and I am excited to showcase what UNL has to offer as I move into the workplace."

Chin Tung Tan

Major: Journalism

Hometown: Kepong, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia

"I'm so happy to see all my hard work paid off. This achievement is a reflection of the valuable knowledge and skills I've gained as a student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Shoutout to every single professor who taught me throughout my college career. They are the reason I'm a Chancellor's Scholar! I'll never forget the guidance and kindness they've shown me."
