To Creighton, her social justice course is about helping her students see where they can fit in to make a better society and she feels so fulfilled in her teaching role when she hears them talking about being better citizens. Now Creighton is taking her tactics and applying them to the CoJMC faculty space.

'Global News' course brings Nebraska, Omani students together

Eight in the morning is not a favorite start time for most college students. However, the chance to video chat with peers halfway across the world has spurred Huskers enrolled in the University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s “Global News in the Age of Social Media” class.

Two students win AAF’s Most Promising Multicultural Student (MPMS) Awards

Senior advertising and public relations major Kimberly Chungong and senior broadcasting and advertising and public relations major Celine Hayes have received AAF’s Most Promising Multicultural Student awards. They attended the MPMS conference from Feb. 10-13, along with Interim Dean Amy Struthers, in New York City.

CoJMC launches emergency scholarship program

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications announces a new emergency scholarship available for undergraduate students.

“Life can throw our students a curveball and we want to be there to help,” said Amy Struthers, interim
dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. “Through the generous support of our
alumni and donors, we will now have one more tool to help students facing tragic situations.”

CoJMC professor to receive 2019 Sower Award in the Humanities

CoJMC journalism professor Joe Starita will receive the 2019 Sower Award in the Humanities. Starita will be honored on Oct. 24 at Omaha’s Holland Performing Arts Center, immediately preceding the 24th Annual Governor’s Lecture in the Humanities featuring historian Dwight David Eisenhower II.
