Ryan Yetts (’22) celebrates getting his degree at Pinnacle Bank Arena in Dec. 2022. The arena will host a combined graduate and undergraduate commencement ceremony Aug. 17.

25 degrees awarded at August commencement

Twenty-one College of Journalism and Mass Communications students received their Bachelor of Journalism degrees and four received their Master of Arts degrees during the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s graduate commencement on Aug. 17, 2024 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Black named Student of the Month

The UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications Student Advisory Board voted to select Jessica Black as the December 2022 Student of the Month. Black is a junior advertising and public relations major from Lincoln, Nebraska.

Jill Martin

Martin named Professor of the Month

Jill Martin was named the January professor of the month by the CoJMC Student Advisory Board. Martin is an assistant professor of practice in journalism. She teaches courses in journalism, community reporting, leads the Nebraska News Service and serves as co-director of the Experience Lab.

Spring 2023 Checkout Room Hours

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications Checkout Room provides access to media production equipment to all students enrolled in CoJMC courses. Use of the checkout room is free of charge for students. However, fines and fees will apply for overdue, lost or stolen equipment.

Huskers selected as summer orientation leaders

In these roles, which are among the most competitive and prestigious student leadership positions at the university, the students will help welcome more than 4,500 students and their family members.

Campus is once again buzzing with the excitement of a new semester. While much of the fall semester is focused on fundamentals, in the spring we really get to push our more seasoned students in courses like Data Journalism, Advanced Videography, Advanced Audio Content Creation, Advanced Sports Data Analytics, Politics and the Media, Interactive Media Design, Digital Motion Graphics, Social Media Data Mining and Crisis Management.

Obituary: David Lee Fitzgibbon, "Fitz"

David Lee Fitzgibbon, “Fitz”, 57, brought the best of himself to every situation. He made everyone who knew him feel like a close friend. It was hard not to smile when he was around. There was just something about his nature that made people happy and at ease. He really listened to what you had to say and was genuinely interested and present. David left this world on Friday afternoon, January 20, 2023.
