CoJMC secures Nebraska Research Initiative grant to establish SMART-Lab

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications is proud to announce that it has received a grant of $101,376 from the Nebraska Research Initiative to support establishing the Social and Traditional Media Analytics and Research Tools Lab (SMART-Lab). This new facility will be a cornerstone for social and traditional media research, fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and providing invaluable resources for academic and industry partners.

The Nebraska Alumni Association has announced its 2023 class of Alumni Masters and alumni award winners. The Alumni Masters and award winners will be recognized on campus March 22-24, ending with the Nebraska Medallion Dinner on March 24.

Thirty-three students attend national data journalism conference

Thirty-three students from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications recently attended NICAR, an annual data journalism conference hosted by the Investigative Reporters and Editors. This year’s conference was in Nashville from March 1-5.

Three incoming freshmen awarded Nebraska Broadcasters Association Scholarships

Three advertising students selected as Clifton Strengths Institute student coaches

Three students in the CoJMC were chosen as Clifton Strengths Institute coaches for the 2023-2024 academic year. They will join 35 undergraduate students from 14 different majors across campus, along with the returning coaches, to mentor about 1,000 students enrolled in a College of Business class, Professional Enhancement I: Investing in Strengths.

Gamet wins 2023 Perry Photojournalism Challenge with ‘An Evening Out With The Loneliest Generation’

Meredith Gamet, a junior journalism and French double major from Omaha, won the top prize in the 2023 Philip Perry Photojournalism Challenge for her essay “An Evening Out With The Loneliest Generation.” Gamet will receive a $7,000 scholarship to complete her studies at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln.
