Huskers receive awards at the Nebraska Medallion Banquet

Three College of Journalism and Mass Communications students were honored with scholarship awards at the Nebraska Medallion Dinner on March 24 hosted at the Wick Alumni Center. Each year, the Nebraska Alumni Association recognizes accomplished alumni, promising students and a retired faculty member at a variety of awards programs and events such as the Nebraska Medallion Dinner. The award winners are chosen by a selection committee of alumni from across the country.

Nebraska’s National Student Advertising Competition team awarded second place at districts

UNL’s National Student Advertising Competition (NSAC) team placed second at the American Advertising Federation’s District 9 competition, held in Kansas City, Missouri, on April 22. This year’s eight competing teams came from colleges and universities in Nebraska, Iowa, Kansas and Missouri.

Huskers earn honorable mention in Bateman Competition

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications Bateman Case Study team has earned an honorable mention and a top-16 finish in the 2023 national competition. The Public Relations Student Society of America hosts the Bateman competition annually for public relations students, allowing them to implement a full public relations campaign using their classroom education and internship experiences.

Vanderford receives inaugural Beermann Scholarship at NPA Convention

Jacob Vanderford has been awarded the first Linda Beermann Scholarship by the Nebraska Press Association. The scholarship was awarded at the NPA's annual convention on April 15, 2023. Vanderford, who is from Lincoln, Nebraska, is a junior sports media and communication and advertising and public relations double major at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications.
