The American Advertising Awards, conducted annually by the American Advertising Federation, is a three-tier national competition where local entrants vie to receive an ADDY Award for recognition as the best in their markets. Local ADDY winners compete against winners from other local clubs in one of 15 district competitions, and district ADDY winners are then forwarded to the third tier, the national stage of the American Advertising Awards.

A Gold ADDY is a recognition of the highest level of creative excellence and is judged to be superior to all other entries in the category. Entries that are also considered outstanding and worthy of recognition receive a Silver ADDY. The number of awards given in each category is determined by the judges based on the relative quality of work in that category.

"We are incredibly proud of our students and their achievements in this year's American Advertising Awards," said Shari Veil, dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications. "Their hard work and dedication to their craft have been recognized at the regional level, and we are excited to see them compete at the national stage."
