Bullard announces phased retirement

Associate Professor Sue Burzynski Bullard has announced she will pursue phased retirement. Bullard will move to a half-time appointment during the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 academic years, before departing from the University in May 2020.

Joseph Weber, the Jerry and Karla Huse Professor of News-Editorial and an associate professor at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln's College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was named Graduate Chair by CoJMC Interim Dean Amy Struthers and Tim Carr, Interim Dean of University of Nebraska–Lincoln Grad Studies.

Jay Wilkinson, CEO and founder of Firespring and CoJMC alum, knew he wanted to leave a legacy behind honoring his father.

“My father was a huge support to me throughout my childhood,” Wilkinson said “He was the best dad a kid could have. He was my Boy Scout leader, the coach of my youth sports teams and never missed a single game or activity. My dream was to someday acquire enough wealth that I could do something big in his honor like have a park or hospital wing named after him.”

Nebraska students attend Most Promising Multicultural Students conference

Four Nebraska students participated in the American Advertising Federation's Most Promising Multicultural Students (MPMS) program. The program connects the advertising industry with the nation’s top multicultural college seniors. The students attended a four-day conference in New York City where they had the opportunity to network with top industry leaders.

Alex Hotovy, a senior ADPR and history double-major, recently competed in the popular TV game show “Jeopardy!” The episode was filmed on Nov. 8. 2017, and aired on Jan. 8, 2018.

CoJMC students bring home six ADDY awards

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications had a strong presence at the 2018 ADDY Awards held on Saturday, Feb. 17. The CoJMC students brought home a total of six ADDYs (two Golds and four Silvers) in six different categories. Many students and faculty attended the event at the Scottish Rite Masonic Center in Omaha celebrating award-winning work from the industry and students.
