Capstone class receives honorable mention for advertising campaign

During the fall 2022 semester, students in advertising and public relations professor Bryan Wang’s capstone course planned and executed a campaign to reduce targeted violence toward refugees for Invent2Prevent, a program that empowers university and high school students to develop innovative projects that help prevent targeted violence and terrorism in their local communities.

Reed, a senior broadcasting major from O’Fallon, Missouri, was recognized for her dedication to going above and beyond in her pursuit of excellence in broadcasting.

Nebraska students capitalizing on esports boom

Kimball High School senior Keegan Eertmotd has been playing video games ever since he could hold a controller. His passion runs so deep, that he played a leading role in the creation of Kimball Public Schools’ esports team, which officially debuted in Nov. 2022.

Alumni Spotlight: Sylvia Stone

Sylvia graduated in 2019 and shortly after graduation she was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. She used the skills she developed while in college at the CoJMC to connect with her followers online, share her story and educate the public on the importance of breast cancer early detection.

Sports media capstone team and UNL Sports Media Club to host FIFA tournament

Supporting KC, a team of sports media communication and advertising and public relations capstone students, is hosting a FIFA video game tournament on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. The team collaborated with UNL's Sports Media Club to help raise brand awareness for their client Sporting KC and for their league, Major League Soccer (MLS). Sporting KC is a men's professional soccer club based in Kansas City, Missouri.
