Richter honored with College Distinguished Teaching Award

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor announced that Kaci Richter will receive a 2023 College Distinguished Teach Award on March 27. 

Richter is an assistant professor of practice at the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications. Before joining the CoJMC faculty in 2018, spent 10 years an instructor and program chair in radio broadcasting at Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Before joining academia, Richter had a successful career in radio broadcasting, both on-air and off. She teaches courses in broadcasting, podcasting and serves as the coordinator for the college’s communication design program. In addition to teaching, she hosts a regular specialty show, “The Mixtape,” on 90.3 KRNU. 

Associate Dean for Research and Faculty Affairs Cory Armstrong nominated Richter. In her nomination, she said “She is creative, talented and a natural leader. Spend any amount of time with Kaci, and you will be excited to participate with whatever is happening. Her energy and friendliness motivate students, pushing them to attempt new things.” 

The College Distinguished Teaching Awards are an annual honor bestowed by the UNL Executive Vice Chancellor of faculty who have demonstrated excellence in teaching.
