Kimball High School senior Keegan Eertmotd has been playing video games ever since he could hold a controller. His passion runs so deep, that he played a leading role in the creation of Kimball Public Schools’ esports team, which officially debuted in Nov. 2022.

Alumni Spotlight: Sylvia Stone

Sylvia graduated in 2019 and shortly after graduation she was diagnosed with stage III breast cancer. She used the skills she developed while in college at the CoJMC to connect with her followers online, share her story and educate the public on the importance of breast cancer early detection.

Sports media capstone team and UNL Sports Media Club to host FIFA tournament

Supporting KC, a team of sports media communication and advertising and public relations capstone students, is hosting a FIFA video game tournament on Wednesday, April 5, 2023, from 5-8 p.m. The team collaborated with UNL's Sports Media Club to help raise brand awareness for their client Sporting KC and for their league, Major League Soccer (MLS). Sporting KC is a men's professional soccer club based in Kansas City, Missouri.

We’ve had a great first week back from spring break celebrating our Alumni Master Jane Tenhulzen Olson. Jane (’64) has had an incredible and impactful career promoting international peace and justice while working with humanitarian organizations in areas of international conflict, including Central America, South America, eastern Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Throughout the week, Jane has been visiting classes and community organizations and sharing stories from her recent book, “World Citizen: Journeys of a Humanitarian.” We are proud to call this inspiring world leader a CoJMC alum!

Growth in esports paves new career paths beyond the screen

Growing up, Ahman Green recalls he always had access to video games. It started when he was about 5 or 6. His dad worked on aviation computers and would sometimes bring home PCs to work on. On one occasion, Green’s dad told him to play on one of the computers to make sure it was in working order.
