Kirkpatrick welcomed as first guest on new Nebraska Extension podcast

Dr. Ciera Kirkpatrick, an assistant professor of advertising and public relations in the CoJMC, was the first guest on Nebraska Extension's new podcast, "The Good Life in Early Life." The series will highlight Nebraska's research on early care and youth education.

McCoy receives grant from Humanities Nebraska

In partnership with Nebraska Public Media, Barney McCoy, the Gilbert and Martha Hitchcock Professor of Broadcasting in the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications, received a grant from Humanities Nebraska. The grant will support the production of “Running Towards the Fire,” a WWII documentary about University of Nebraska-Lincoln graduate Barney Oldfield and Reuters News correspondent Robert Reuben.

Kirkpatrick named AEJMC Emerging Scholar

The Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication has named a College of Journalism and Mass Communications faculty member as one of its 2023 Emerging Scholars. Ciera Kirkpatrick, an assistant professor of advertising and public relations, was awarded a $3,500 grant as part of an AEJMC program to recognize promising young scholars and encourage their professional growth.

Designing Effective Health Messaging with Ciera Kirkpatrick

As the pandemic settled in, Ciera Kirkpatrick was a new mom working on her doctorate, a double challenge added to the already tall order of first-time motherhood. Kirkpatrick reflected her experience in her dissertation, studying how social media depictions of motherhood can affect how women perceive their own experience. It informs her broader interest in how media messages influence people’s health-related decisions.
