Bender and Anderson inducted into the 2022 Nebraska Journalism Hall of Fame

The Nebraska Journalism Hall of Fame banquet and induction ceremony was held Saturday, October 22, at The Graduate Hotel, in Lincoln, NE. This award honors those distinguished persons who have made significant contributions to journalism in their communities, the state, or the nation. A selection committee of NPA and journalism college representatives select the inductees.

Thomas selected as October Student of the Month

The UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications Student Advisory Board voted to select Peyton Thomas as the October 2022 Student of the Month. Thomas is a senior broadcasting, journalism and sports media and communication triple major from Gilbert, Arizona.

Former Chair of Human Rights Watch to discuss her book, "World Citizen: Journeys of a Humanitarian" on Nov. 29

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Forsythe Family Program on Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs will co-sponsor a book talk with international human rights activist Jane Olson.

Olson will discuss her new book, “World Citizen: Journeys of a Humanitarian,” from 5:30-6:30 p.m. on Nov. 29, at the International Quilt Museum. Refreshments will follow the discussion. To register to attend please visit https://go.unl.edu/worldcitizen

Six Daily Nebraskan alumni and staff inducted into its Hall of Fame

Six Daily Nebraskan alumni and its 1971-72 staffs were inducted into its Hall of Fame at a ceremony on Oct. 22. Beverly Deepe Keever, David Luebke, Matt Waite, Kent Warneke and Jeff Zeleny were Distinguished Alumni award winners. Not only did they make a difference to the Daily Nebraskan and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln but they had or have distinguished careers.

Nebraska Nightly broadcasts first live newscast of the semester

Nebraska Nightly, the UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications live newscast, aired its first episode of the fall 2022 semester on Oct. 11, 2022. Nebraska Nightly is one of the programs in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications’ Experience Lab.
