Huskers win 12 awards at 2023 AMA Prism Awards

The Lincoln chapter of the American Marketing Association held its annual Prism Awards on May 4, 2023. The Prism Awards were created to celebrate the strength and innovation of Lincoln’s marketers. Student groups within the College of Journalism and Mass Communications won nine Prism Awards and three Sterling Awards.

Two Huskers awarded Nebraska Broadcasters Association scholarships

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation awarded scholarships to two UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications students with aspirations to work in broadcasting upon their graduation. The following students are recipients of the $2,000 NBA EEO Scholarships for 2023:

College names Experience Lab leads for upcoming semester

UNL's College of Journalism and Mass Communications recently announced the thirteen Matousek Scholars who will serve as student leads in the college's Experience Lab for the fall 2023 semester. The experiential learning program allows students to gain hands-on experience from the first day they begin college. More than 200 students will participate in the Experience Lab this fall.

Dean's Update: May 2023

Over the weekend, we added 210 CoJMC graduates to the alumni family! On Friday, 27 graduate students received their master of arts degrees or a graduate certificate at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. On Saturday, 183 undergraduate students crossed the stage at Memorial Stadium. We had beautiful weather throughout the weekend as Chancellor Ronnie Green presided over his final commencement at Nebraska. On Monday, University of Nebraska President Ted Carter named Rodney D. Bennett as the priority candidate for our next chancellor.

Dulce Garcia named Outstanding Honors Graduate

Sixteen graduating seniors earned awards from the University Honors Program at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln. The students were selected from among 300-plus Honors graduates during the 2022-23 academic year.

Experiential learning propels Vu to award-winning work

Meet Mai Vu, an advertising and public relations major from Hai Phong, Vietnam. Through internships and hands-on experiences on campus, Vu has explored the power of writing.

These outstanding individuals have been recognized for their exceptional achievements in teaching, research, industry or community engagement, student support or advocacy, staff excellence, inclusive excellence and going above and beyond expectations.

CoJMC graduates 183 students at May commencement

UNL’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications celebrates the 183 students who graduated on May 20, 2023, with a bachelor's degree in journalism. CoJMC is the only program in Nebraska accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. The degree provides students with the technical skills, broad liberal arts education, and critical thinking skills necessary to excel in the ever-changing journalism and mass communications industries.
