Two new faculty join the College of Journalism and Mass Communications

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications welcomes two new faculty to the team this fall. Joining us are Associate Professor of Sport Promotion, Betsy Emmons and Assistant Professor of Practice in Journalism, Leslie Klein.

Tenhulzen Olson engages with students throughout Alumni Masters week

Jane Tenhulzen Olson, international human rights activist, was honored as the 2023 CoJMC Alumni Master, during Masters Week from March 22-24. Alumni Masters Week is a program sponsored by the Nebraska Alumni Association (NAA), the Student Alumni Association Board of Directors and the UNL Chancellor's Office. During Masters Week, outstanding alumni return to campus to share their experiences and knowledge with students.

Seline Lecture features Jenna Johnson, Washington Post deputy democracy editor

The UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications featured Jenna Johnson, deputy democracy editor for the Washington Post, at the 2023 Seline Lecture. The talk, “Deepening polarization, rampant misinformation and the erosion of democracy in the United States,” took place on Tuesday, April 11 on UNL’s City Campus.

Diane Brayton, EVP and General Counsel for the New York Times, to speak at UNL College of Journalism and Mass Communications

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications welcomed Diane Brayton as the Hearst Visiting Professional on April 4, 2023. Brayton, the executive vice president and general counsel for the New York Times, spoke to four different journalism and mass communications classes during her visit.

Capstone class receives honorable mention for advertising campaign

During the fall 2022 semester, students in advertising and public relations professor Bryan Wang’s capstone course planned and executed a campaign to reduce targeted violence toward refugees for Invent2Prevent, a program that empowers university and high school students to develop innovative projects that help prevent targeted violence and terrorism in their local communities.
