UNL Documentary "Running Towards the Fire" Wins Grand Prize at Marina del Ray Film Festival

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln proudly announces that "Running Towards the Fire – A War Correspondent's Story" was awarded the Grand Prize for best TV documentary at the Marina del Rey Film Festival on June 27. Gilbert and Martha Hitchcock Professor of Journalism Barney McCoy directed the film.

Chris DeRuyscher elected into IDEA Hall of Fame

College names Experience Lab leads for upcoming semester

UNL's College of Journalism and Mass Communications recently announced the thirteen Matousek Scholars who will serve as student leads in the college's Experience Lab for the fall 2023 semester. The experiential learning program allows students to gain hands-on experience from the first day they begin college. More than 200 students will participate in the Experience Lab this fall.

Dean's Update: May 2023

Over the weekend, we added 210 CoJMC graduates to the alumni family! On Friday, 27 graduate students received their master of arts degrees or a graduate certificate at the Bob Devaney Sports Center. On Saturday, 183 undergraduate students crossed the stage at Memorial Stadium. We had beautiful weather throughout the weekend as Chancellor Ronnie Green presided over his final commencement at Nebraska. On Monday, University of Nebraska President Ted Carter named Rodney D. Bennett as the priority candidate for our next chancellor.

Dulce Garcia named Outstanding Honors Graduate

CoJMC graduates 183 students at May commencement

UNL’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications celebrates the 183 students who graduated on May 20, 2023, with a bachelor's degree in journalism. CoJMC is the only program in Nebraska accredited by the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism and Mass Communications. The degree provides students with the technical skills, broad liberal arts education, and critical thinking skills necessary to excel in the ever-changing journalism and mass communications industries.

Graduation Spotlight: Kloee Sander

After building a solid support system of professional connections and cherished friendships at UNL, Kloee Sander is looking forward to expanding her community on the east coast. The May 2023 broadcasting graduate has lived in Lincoln her entire life, but starting this fall, she'll trade in her Husker red for Tarheel blue when she begins law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
