Graduation Spotlight: Kloee Sander

Wednesday, May 17, 2023 - 9:30am

After building a solid support system of professional connections and cherished friendships at UNL, Kloee Sander is looking forward to expanding her community on the east coast.

The May 2023 broadcasting graduate has lived in Lincoln her entire life, but starting this fall, she'll trade in her Husker red for Tarheel blue when she begins law school at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

"I am one step closer to achieving my goals because of the people I met, the professors that invested in me and the opportunities I had here," Sander said. "It is an honor to graduate from UNL and the experience is an important step on my professional journey."

Throughout her time at UNL, Sander had numerous experiences and leadership opportunities that helped her get to where she is today. At CoJMC, Sander was a co-lead and anchor for Nebraska Nightly in the first semester of the Experience Lab. That experience led her to a communications internship at the Nebraska Press Association, a semester-long fellowship at the Omaha-World Herald and a news broadcasting internship at KOLN/KGIN-TV 10/11 News.

On campus, she fostered connections through her sorority Chi Omega, while on UNL's Panhellenic Executive Council as vice president of membership development and as a Mortar Board honor society member.

Most of all, Sander credits her faith-filled friendships at the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center for changing her life. Her various leadership roles as board member, president and vice president of communications helped Sander discover her passion for growth and community.

"The last four years have been full of growth, challenges and victories," Sander said. "The best thing about being a Husker is the community fostered on this campus, and I am thankful for each student I encountered and staff and faculty I met."
