The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) recently announced that five University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) students received an honorable mention for their “IGNITE THE i IN IMC” public interest campaign.

CoJMC senior accepts multicultural internship opportunity

 Suong Nguyen, senior advertising and public relations major at the CoJMC, was recently accepted to the 2019 Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP). The program is sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and provides students with a full-time, paid internship.

CoJMC alumna Mecca Slaughter is working as a professor of English at the University of Tetovo in Macedonia. Slaughter is a May 2016 journalism graduate and a May 2018 master’s grad from the integrated media communications track.

How art bridges cultures: Encouraging artistic diversity in Lincoln

In 2009, artist Wendy Bantam sought to bridge cultures through an art project in a Lincoln neighborhood. With help from members of the Asian community, she created a colorful mural at 27th and T streets that was inspired by their native lands.

Nebraska students attend Most Promising Multicultural Students conference

Four Nebraska students participated in the American Advertising Federation's Most Promising Multicultural Students (MPMS) program. The program connects the advertising industry with the nation’s top multicultural college seniors. The students attended a four-day conference in New York City where they had the opportunity to network with top industry leaders.
