Anna Sims is a lecturer in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications where she teaches journalism and writing fundamentals courses.   

Sims' career includes working as associate editor at The Warren Group, a Boston-based publishing company, and writing for publications including Shondaland, Boston Magazine, New York Family Magazine, The Millions, Massachusetts Lawyers Journal, Bay State Apartment Owner, and Experience Magazine, among many others. A culture-focused writer, she’s covered everything from housing to young socialists to Kardashians to an environmentalist raising bald eagles in New York City. Sims has extensive copyediting experience for companies and publications around the country and has worked in marketing communications at the Museum of Science in Boston, where she co-authored a commemorative book celebrating 50 people who changed the public’s understanding of science. She also has experience in book publicity and media relations.  

Sims came to UNL in 2020 after teaching at Emerson College in Boston. She holds an MFA in creative nonfiction writing from Emerson College and a B.S. in journalism and a B.A. in English from Boston University.
