The College of Journalism and Mass Communications welcomes two new faculty to the team this fall. Joining us are Associate Professor of Sport Promotion, Betsy Emmons and Assistant Professor of Practice in Journalism, Leslie Klein.

Azizah selected to join NextGen Global Leaders Network

Mia Azizah, an alumna of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, has earned a prestigious spot in the 2023 NextGen Global Leaders Network. This one-year program, sponsored by the U.S. Global Leadership Coalition (USGLC), provides a unique platform for 70 talented young professionals from 25 states to explore innovative ways of promoting global development and diplomacy within their communities.

Faculty members to attend 2023 AEJMC Conference

Faculty members from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications will attend the Association for Education in Journalism and Mass Communication (AEJMC) conference from Aug. 7-10, in Washington, D.C. Many will serve as panelists, moderators or discussants and others will present their research at various sessions during the four-day conference.

Nathan Hé

Hé building out welcoming community for alumni

Meet Nathan Hé. As an undergrad from Chongqing, China, Hé got involved across campus — from joining RSOs to finding opportunities for hands-on learning. Now as the assistant director of alumni engagement for the Nebraska Alumni Association, he’s creating more opportunities for alumni and students to engage with each other and find communities that are important for them.

Fall 2023 peer mentor cohort announced

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications has recently selected its new cohort of peer mentors for the 2023-2024 school year. During the First Year Experience class, a required course for all first-semester students in the college, students are assigned to a peer mentor.

Two CoJMC students participate in Rural Fellows internship program

Rural Prosperity Nebraska kicked off the 10th season of its Rural Fellows internship program on June 5. Twenty one students will live in 10 rural communities across the state, working on community development projects that range from public health to downtown creative arts districts.
