Congratulations to these CoJMC alumni who have made big strides in their careers! This month's featured alumni include recent graduates starting new jobs and alumni honored with prestigious state awards.

Obituary: Lew Hunter

A legend in the film and television industry, Lew Hunter never forgot his Nebraska roots. Hunter, who was born in 1935 in Guide Rock and lived for years in Superior, died Jan. 6 in Arizona. He was 87. The Broadcast Pioneer Award was presented to him during the College of Journalism and Mass Communications Salute to Excellence Event in 2017.

Obituary: Rebecca Jo Albers

Surrounded by family members, Rebecca Jo “Becky” (Ross) Albers, 70, died Dec. 20, 2022, at Inova Fair Oaks Hospital in Fairfax, Va., after a sudden illness.

Alumna Jane Olson shares stories of human rights activism

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Forsythe Family Program on Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs co-sponsored a visit and book talk with international human rights activist Jane Olson on Nov. 28 and 29. 

Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation awards scholarships to two College of Journalism and Mass Communications students

The Nebraska Broadcasters Association Foundation (NBAF) has awarded scholarships to two students who are currently attending the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications with aspirations to work in broadcasting upon their graduation. 

Two students named Chancellor’s Scholars

Two University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications students will be recognized as Chancellor’s Scholars during the undergraduate commencement ceremony Dec. 17 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Obituary: Bob Moyer

Bob Moyer, born 12/31/1948. He died on 12/6/2022 after a brief battle with cancer. Bob was a lifelong resident of Lincoln. He loved this community and dedicated his life in service to it.

The best thing about being a Husker is the pride that we have for our sports. We show up and show out for every sports team on campus no matter how good or bad the team may be. We truly do have the best fans in the country.

Graduating from UNL means all the hard work and the support of my friends, family, and instructors was worth it! Completing my undergraduate degree at UNL was a wonderful and evocative experience. So many wonderful people have supported and helped me, and I've enjoyed a lot of excellent experiences and moments throughout my college journey.
