UNL Documentary "Running Towards the Fire" Wins Grand Prize at Marina del Ray Film Festival

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln proudly announces that "Running Towards the Fire – A War Correspondent's Story" was awarded the Grand Prize for best TV documentary at the Marina del Rey Film Festival on June 27. Gilbert and Martha Hitchcock Professor of Journalism Barney McCoy directed the film.

Five faculty and one new staff member join Nebraska's College of Journalism and Mass Communications

Five faculty and one new staff member joined CoJMC, starting in the 2023-24 academic year: assistant professor of practice, Kristian Anderson; assistant professor of practice and Deepe Family Chair in Depth Reporting, Chris Graves;  assistant professor in media law, Dr. Michael K. Park; assistant professor in sports media and communication, Dr. Ryan Tan; assistant professor and Deepe Family Chair in Depth Reporting, Dr. Linda White; and director of advising, Alisa Smith.

Broadcasting Huskers win four national best of show awards

Six Huskers win gold at Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards

Six Huskers won gold at the 2023 Nebraska Broadcasters Association Pinnacle Awards, along with several CoJMC alumni and incoming first-year students. The winners received their awards during the Nebraska Broadcasters Association annual convention on Wednesday, Aug. 9.

Veil honored with Nebraska Broadcasters Association Friend to Broadcasters Award

Shari Veil, dean of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, was honored with the Friend to Broadcasters Award at the Nebraska Broadcasters Association (NBA) Hall of Fame Banquet on Tuesday, Aug. 8. The banquet was the opening event at the NBA's 89th annual convention.

Obituary: Raymond Anthony Metoyer

Raymond Anthony Metoyer passed away on July 21 in Atlanta, Georgia after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was 72. He was born on July 10, 1951 in Omaha to Raymond and Lois Metoyer. He graduated from Creighton Prep and the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. He spent his summers working at the family barbecue restaurant - Metoyer's Barbecue.
