Bridget Sims Lewis, M.A., is an adjunct instructor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, teaching the JOUR 200A: The Fundamentals of Editing and Reporting I course. In addition, she is a corporate communications consultant, award-winning journalist, and co-author of an upcoming children’s book.

Her holistic approach to communications strategy and operations is influenced by more than 20 years of professional experience. Bridget’s highlights include overseeing large-scale media campaigns, serving as a media relations strategist in higher education, and working as a news producer and writer in some of the nation’s largest news markets in the country. While at WFAA-TV (ABC) in Dallas, she received two Emmy Awards. Her work has also received recognition from Texas AP Broadcasters and the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE) District IV.

Bridget provides media training and coaching for senior executives, higher education, and business leaders. Her passion for communications is coupled with a strong commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists (NABJ) and frequently mentors students interested in journalism.

Bridget holds a Master of Arts degree in Journalism and a Bachelor of Journalism in Broadcasting from the University of Nebraska. Forever a proud Husker, she is part of the Chancellor’s Council of Alumni Ambassadors and sits on the board of directors for a nonprofit organization dedicated to eradicating domestic violence.
