Shaun Sartin Bio

Ex-Photojournalist Shaun Sartin is a ’94 Graduate of UNL. After internships in Fargo, ND; Saginaw, Mich; Jacksonville and Naples, Fla., Shaun started his career at the Topeka Capital-Journal. Covering everything from Cook of the Week to the Kansas City Chiefs and more importantly finally figured out what college basketball was all about.

After three years in Kansas, Shaun moved to the greater Chicago area and landed a job with the then Copley Newspaper group in Aurora, Ill. Starting out as a night photo editor before managing the Central Photo Dept. for the chain of four dailies and almost two dozen weeklies. Shaun continued his career jumping to another suburban daily before becoming a freelance photographer shooting editorial, higher-education and head shots.

In 2015 a year after his twins Cooper and Katherine (KK) were born, he shifted his focus (pun intended) to making sure they had plenty of opportunity to seek therapy as adults by becoming a full-time stay at home dad. He did reach back to his youth and become a Zamboni driver for a few months before his family relocated to Lexington, KY in 2021. Shaun is an avid motorcyclist who loves travelling when he can and finding some dirt roads to try and relive his youth.
