About the workshop

This workshop shows students how to tell stories using photographs. Students will learn basic camera functions, how to get better images and what makes a good photograph. We will discuss the different opportunities at UNL for photojournalist and talk about various careers in photojournalism.

Faculty Lead: Shoun Hill

Shoun Hill

Shoun has been a photographer for more than 15 years, working at newspapers in Louisville (KY), Minneapolis (MN), Jackson (TN), Mamphis (TN), Orlando (FL) and in New York City for the Associated Press. In addition he's worked on a number of long-term projects during his career including a documentary film about the plight of African-American farmers that won the Peoples Choice Award at the Denton Black Film Festival and being an award winner in both the Docs Without Boarders Film Festival and the Impact DOCS Awards.

At UNL, Hill teaches photojournalism: basic photojournalism, advanced photojournalism and in-depth photojournalism projects with Global Eyewitness, an opportunity for studnets to share stories through photography, writing and multimedia from around the world.

If the faculty lead is not available to teach a workshop, another qualified faculty member will be arranged.
