Patrick Sison Bio

Since joining The Associated Press as a photo editor, Patrick Sison has been involved with both international and national news photography from the Rwandan genocide, to the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks in the U.S., and subsequent war in Afghanistan, to the protests against police brutality sparked by the death of George Floyd. Interested in photography since high school (developing Tri-X at home), at The University of Texas at Austin, he was a photographer and photo editor for both the school’s yearbook and The Daily Texan student newspaper, studying art and art history while working on a Bachelors of Journalism.

Most recently at the AP, he’s been working with photographers and text colleagues in long-form enterprise and investigative stories, and weekly galleries highlighting the top work from the wire agency’s extensive report.
