The National Communication Association Public Relations Division selected Shari Veil, dean of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, for the 2023 Outstanding Contribution to Public Relations Education Award. The NCA PR Division recognizes achievements in public relations research.
Nominations for the award are solicited from all members of the Division. An awards committee comprised of two elected division members and the immediate past chair of the division determines the winner.
"This is well deserved as [Shari] has inspired so many colleagues and graduate students over the years," said Angie Corbo, immediate past chair of the NCA PR Division. "The committee specifically wanted to honor someone who actively exhibits excellence in all that she does."
Veil received the award on Nov. 17 during the NCA Annual Conference in National Harbor, Maryland.
"I am truly honored to receive this recognition," Veil said. "It has been a privilege to work alongside dedicated colleagues and students in the field of public relations, and I am grateful for their continuous support and collaboration."
