The Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Foundation awarded the Ofield Dukes Multicultural Student Award to Valeria Uribe, a junior advertising and public relations and graphic design dual major. The $1,000 award recognizes Uribe’s outstanding leadership and commitment to service and social responsibility.

Uribe was elected UNL Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) chapter president for 2023-2024. She has been a member of PRSSA since her freshman year and has held other leadership roles with the club, including firm director during the 2022-2023 academic year.

“This is a highly competitive national scholarship and I’m thrilled Valeria was awarded this honor,” UNL PRSSA faculty advisor Dave Remund said. “Valeria is an exceptional student leader who has consistently demonstrated her dedication to service, equity and mentorship as a PRSSA member and chapter leader.”

The PRSA Foundation created this award in honor of Ofield Dukes who died in 2011. Dukes was an honorary trustee of the Foundation and a widely recognized leader in the public relations profession. The scholarship fund was established by a gift from the PRSA Foundation, and founding gifts from Prudential Financial and from Weber Shandwick.
