Friday, December 3, 2021 - 3:30pm

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications has selected six students for UNL’s 2022 Bateman Case Study Competition team.

The Bateman Case Study Competition is a national case study competition, hosted by the Public Relations Student Society of America, for public relations students. The competition gives students an opportunity to apply their classroom education and internship experiences to create and implement a full public relations campaign.

This is the eighth year CoJMC will enter the competition. Previous Bateman campaigns have addressed social issues related to civility, mental health, student veterans and affordable housing. This year’s faculty advisor is Dane Kiambi, associate professor of advertising and public relations at the CoJMC. The team’s professional public relations advisor is human.well founder, Sheri Sallee.

The best of the best journalism, media and communications collegiate programs participate in Bateman. CoJMC teams’ campaigns have earned top-3, top-16 and top-20 national finishes. Last year’s team won second place for their campaign “The Civility Effect.”

The 2022 Bateman Competition client is the Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF). The team will develop and execute an integrated communications campaign to raise awareness of lymphoma and the unique challenges adolescents and young adults can face when diagnosed with lymphoma.
