PRSSA members tapped into the giving spirit of the Lincoln community in October by hosting "Scare Off Hunger," a donation campaign that raised nearly 600 food and hygiene items for Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+.

The campaign gathered donations from COJMC faculty, local advertising agencies Hurrdat, Opendorse, Redthread and Archrival, and several South Lincoln neighborhoods. With an original goal of collecting 100 items, “Scare Off Hunger” exceeded expectations, ensuring that the pantry’s shelves stay stocked for the 80 students who visit weekly.

Started in January 2017 after a survey showed that nearly a third of Nebraska students worry about having enough food to eat, Huskers Helping Huskers Pantry+ is a vital campus organization that provides those in need with food, hygiene items and shelter resources.

"PRSSA has a tradition of doing good in the Lincoln community, and this donation drive was a great way for us to give back," said Connor Menard, PRSSA director of member development. "It's very fulfilling for our members to put their creative skills towards a good cause."
