Brett W. Dettmer, 27 of Syracuse, passed away at the Memorial Hospital in Guymon, OK on December 5, 2022. He was born on July 24, 1995, at the Syracuse Community Memorial Hospital to Bill & Dawn (Clark) Dettmer.
Brett graduated from Syracuse Dunbar Avoca High School in 2014 and UNL in 2018. He was currently attending the University of Missouri Graduate School. Brett had a great love of wrestling and football at Syracuse and continued that love with the Huskers. He also enjoyed watching the Green Bay Packers.
Brett is survived by his parents Bill Dettmer & Dawn Dettmer; brother Jeremy (Katie) Dettmer and their daughter MaryElisabeth Dettmer; half-siblings: Kenneth (Lori) Dettmer, Christopher (Jen) Dettmer, Holly (Donnie) Richardson; grandparents Lee & Mary Margaret Clark; aunts & uncles Dan (LuAnn) Clark, Diane (Larry) Buss, Jim (Mary) Clark, Nancy (Mike) Bose, Steve (Chris) Dettmer, Nadine (Gary) Kreifels; special friends Turner Moore & Laura Straight; also many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Vernon & Patty Dettmer, half-brother Shawn Dettmer, niece Hope Richardson and cousin Curtis Haas.
Memorial services were held on Saturday, Dec. 10 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s UCC located at 511 7th St. Syracuse, NE. The service was livestreamed on the St. Johns UCC Facebook page.
Visitation was held on Friday, Dec. 9 from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. with family greeting friends starting at 5 p.m. all at St. John’s UCC.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family for later designation.
