By the Numbers: Research Productivity

Friday, January 12, 2024 - 12:30pm

During calendar year 2023, the College of Journalism and Mass Communications employed 39 full-time faculty members. Of those individuals, one professor, Joe Weber, and one assistant professor of practice, Luis Peon-Casanova, left the college in May. Two assistant professors, Ryan Tan and Linda White, started in the fall and one associate professor of practice, Michelle Hassler, was on phased retirement (.5 FTE) in fall. With these adjustments, the college employed a total of 36.75 FTE of full-time faculty.

To better understand the resources committed to teaching, research, service and administration in the college, we can convert faculty apportionments to FTE. Almost two-thirds of our faculty FTE (24 FTE) is committed to teaching, while 6 FTE are committed to research, 4.55 to service and 2.20 to administration.
