25 degrees awarded at August commencement

Twenty-one College of Journalism and Mass Communications students received their Bachelor of Journalism degrees and four received their Master of Arts degrees during the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s graduate commencement on Aug. 17, 2024 at Pinnacle Bank Arena.

Two CoJMC alumni part of Pulitzer winning teams

Two alumni from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications were part of Pulitzer prize winning teams. Chris Graves was part of the Cincinnati Enquirer’s “Seven Days of Heroin” team, which examined the impact of heroin on the community through immersive storytelling. Nate Kelly was part of The Arizona Republic’s “The Wall: Unknown stories, Unintended consequences” team, which was a special report from 2017 looking at President Donald Trump’s proposed border wall.

UNL CoJMC public relations students earn top-20 recognition for childhood cancer campaign

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) announced April 24 five University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) students received an honorable mention for their “Stack the Odds– Unite With Purpose to Conquer Childhood Cancer” campaign.

Three CoJMC students receive Fulbright awards

Three students graduating from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications received Fulbright Scholarships to study and work abroad upon graduation. The program offers research, study and teaching opportunities in over 140 countries to recent graduates and graduate students. The program allows them to gain an appreciation for others’ viewpoints through interaction with those in their host country.

CoJMC students create campaign to spread kindness

Students in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications have been working to spread kindness on campus this semester. The students in assistant professor Valerie Jones’ ADPR 361 Connecting Thought Owned, Earned and Paid Media class spent the semester conducting research and a executing smaller campaign that will culminate in a kindness event. The event is Thursday, April 26 from 10 a.m. - 3 p.m. at the UNL Union Plaza.

CoJMC faculty receive Nebraska System Science grant

Faculty from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) have been awarded a $20,000 System Science Planning grant from the University of Nebraska for a project titled “A health system level approach to integrate weight management, obesity care coordination, patient engagement and clinical trial recruitment.”
