For broadcasting graduate Kai Xing Toon, graduating from Nebraska isn't just about getting a degree. As she celebrates this milestone, she reflects on the friendships, memories and growth she experienced through her college involvements in the Business International Student Organization and the Malaysia Student Association, as well as in the classroom, as a videographer at Jacht Agency and on the production crew for Nebraska Nightly.

What does graduating from Nebraska mean to you?

Graduating from Nebraska is a new milestone in my life, it is the accumulation of my hard work and perseverance through these two years. It is not only about a degree, but also the friendships, memories, and growth I have experienced here. There is no place like Nebraska!

As you think about graduating from Nebraska, please share any transformational moments that helped to shape who you are or what you will do going forward:

A pivotal moment for me is to join Jacht Ad Agency as a videographer. It wasn't just a class, but a journey that shaped my passion for videography. The challenges and creative freedom I experienced while working with real-world clients motivated me to pursue this path further.

The person who influenced me the most in the major will be my instructor, Alan Eno. He played a significant role in my development with his guidance and patience in always providing me with support and constructive feedback in this journey. All of the professors I have were very helpful and words could never describe how thankful I am to them.

I also want to acknowledge Susan Oestman, the checkout room lady with a contagious laugh, whose encouragement kept me going every day. Her positivity was infectious and made me want to do better in my work.

Looking ahead, I'm excited to leverage the skills and confidence I gained at Jacht to pursue my videography career with even more determination!

What were you involved in at CoJMC and UNL?

Social Media Chair for BISA (Business International Student Organization), Social Media Chair for NUMSA (Nebraskan University Malaysia Student Association), Jacht videographer, Nebraska Nightly production crew, Volunteered for Production House, had a music show on 90.3 KRNU.

What are your plans for after graduation?

My plan is to pursue my videographer career further. I am currently applying for lots of jobs in the media industry through Linked In/ Indeed/ Handshake, and hopefully, I will get job offers soon! I am open to relocating, preferably in Seattle or California.

After graduation, what are you most looking forward to?

After graduation, I am most looking forward to unleashing my creativity, producing creative work with positive impacts, and experiencing the world!

Who helped you throughout your time as a Husker that you'd like to thank?

Thank you, Mikki Sandin, for always supporting the international students' community, and helping me navigate life in this foreign country.

What is the best thing about being a Husker?

The best thing about being a Husker is that resources are always available with one request away, showing the spirit of "Nebraska Nice" where everyone is ready to help.
