Buffington selected for a Dow Jones News Fund internship

Senior journalism major Megan Buffington was selected for a prestigious Dow Jones News Fund Internship. This highly competitive program provides paid internships in 67 newsrooms across the United States, offering students like Buffington a valuable opportunity to gain hands-on experience in various fields.

The Dow Jones News Fund Internship program offers five specialized program areas: audience engagement, business reporting, data journalism, digital media and multiplatform editing. Buffington was chosen for the digital media program, where she will receive comprehensive training in video production, photography, social media management, data visualization and web design. A team of experts at the esteemed Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication at Arizona State University will conduct the training.

Buffington will embark on her internship at The Arizona Republic in Phoenix after completing her training. She eagerly looks forward to connecting with fellow interns. "I think it's going to be really, really exciting. I'm going to learn a lot. We'll start with a 10-day training at ASU with all the other interns in the digital media program," said Buffington. "There are people from Boston University, Emerson, Northwestern, USC, etc. All of us are coming in from across the country."
