Monday, September 11, 2023 - 2:45pm

The Office of the Executive Vice Chancellor has announced its annual selection of faculty who will attend two Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) leadership programs this year. Cory Armstrong, the Lawrence L. and Ruth E. Pike professor in journalism and associate dean for research and faculty affairs at the CoJMC, is one of the six faculty selected to participate in the Academic Leadership Program (ALP).

Armstrong is also the first ALP fellow to receive a grant from the Mellon Foundation that provides an enhanced two-year experience to select ALP Fellows within humanities disciplines. As the 2023-24 Nebraska ALP-Mellon Fellow, she will participate in additional programming focused on academic leadership in the humanities and complete a mentored project within the EVC Office.

The ALP is an in-person and virtual fellowship, with seminars at Northwestern University in October and at The Ohio State University in April. Throughout the academic year, fellows will participate in conversations on campus, learning about leadership and a broad range of topics, including community engagement, diversity and inclusion, freedom of expression, challenging conversations, mental health, student success and the social value of higher education.
