The Nebraska Alumni Association has announced the selection of eight talented and accomplished individuals to the Council of Alumni Ambassadors. One of the new members is CoJMC alumna Sarah Baker Hansen (‘01), food critic at Grow Omaha and director of public and media relations at Emspace + Lovgren.

Before launching a website that covers the food scene in her hometown of Omaha in 2020, Hansen was the food critic at the Omaha World-Herald for eight years. At OWH, she won two Great Plains Journalism Awards—the first in 2015 for best review and then in 2017 for best feature.

In 2022, she launched bi-weekly food reviews in partnership with Grow Omaha Eats and in 2023, she launched a podcast, “The Food Prowl with SBH and Severe,” with previous CoJMC Professional in Residence Mike’l Severe.

The Council of Alumni Ambassadors represents all nine colleges and a wide range of class years, geographic communities and professions. Members serve three-year terms, meeting semi-annually on campus to be briefed on issues facing the university, to experience firsthand the programs of campus and the alumni association and to lend their input from an alumni perspective.

“The council helps the alumni association foster meaningful connections between Huskers past, present and future,” said Shelley Zaborowski, executive director of the Nebraska Alumni Association. “The group is an advocacy arm for the university and helps us champion alumni interests and strengthen the Nebraska tradition.”
