CoJMC Student Awarded Hitchcock Fellowship

Chelsea Hampton was awarded the Hitchcock Fellowship to aid in her IMC master’s professional project. Hampton used the funds to attend TravelCon in late June. The experience will assist her in building her professional project involving a blog and podcast focused on travel.

CoJMC Students Attend National Sports Media Conference with Fox Sports U

Fox Sports University invited three UNL CoJMC students to attend the National Sports Media Conference in North Carolina. Amanda Acevedo, Tommy Dalton and Ryland Pappas were part of the Spring Fox Sports U class taught by professor Frauke Hachtmann. The students’ work promoting Fox Deportes was chosen by the organization and garnered an invitation to the conference.

CoJMC ADPR student campaign earns top-four ranking in PRSSA National Organ Donor Awareness Competition

The CoJMC Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) team was announced this week as a top-four finalist in the National Organ Donor Awareness Competition (NODAC) sponsored by the Anthony J. Fulginiti (AJF) PRSSA Chapter at Rowan University.

CoJMC wins third place in Hearst Intercollegiate Multimedia competition

Eight universities shared prizes totaling $89,000 as this year’s winners of the Intercollegiate Writing, Photojournalism, Broadcast and Multimedia Competitions of the annual Hearst Journalism Awards Program.

Brown inducted into Nebraska Women Journalists' Hall of Fame

Ruth Brown, emerita professor in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was inducted into the Marian Andersen Nebraska Women Journalists’ Hall of Fame on April 27 at the Nebraska Press Women spring conference in Broken Bow.

CoJMC students win third place in Hearst Intercollegiate Multimedia Competition

The top 10 winners in the 2018-2019 college multimedia team reporting/news were recently announced in the 59th annual William Randolph Hearst Foundation's Journalism Awards Program. There were 80 team entries from 49 schools received in this last multimedia competition of the year.

New role for alum Mark Getzfred

Mark Getzfred has been promoted to Senior Editor at the New York Times, moving to the News team to help drive and elevate the most important stories of the day. Getzfred is a 1979 journalism grad from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications.

CoJMC student makes top 10 in Hearst Personality/Profile Writing Competition

Alli Davis, a junior journalism and ADPR major at the CoJMC, won eighth place and a certificate of merit in the Personality/Profile Writing Competition of the 2018-2019 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. There were 118 entries from 68 schools submitted nationwide.

Five Eric Sevareid Awards Finalists from the CoJMC

The Midwest Broadcast Journalism Association featured five College of Journalism and Mass Communication groups or individuals as finalists for the Eric Sevareid Awards. The awards announced in April saw the CoJMC receive three First Place and two Award of Merit honors.
