Andersen Hall is decked out with colorful nods to the season as we wrap up Dead Week, a busy time of project completion and presentations for our students in advertising, broadcasting, journalism, public relations and sports media & communication. We are racing toward undergraduate commencement the morning of Saturday December 21; our graduate students will cross the stage the day before, during the afternoon of Friday, Dec. 20.

Honors Gala recognizes CoJMC students and faculty

The first ever “Power of Words” gala was held for University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications honors students on Nov. 6. The event took place at the Willa Cather Dining Complex on campus and featured a talk by CoJMC and Honors program alumnus and noted author Carson Vaughan.

Climate Change Nebraska

Depth Reporting program selects students from across campus to examine climate change

Twenty students from across the University of Nebraska-Lincoln have been selected to participate in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications Depth Reporting program in spring 2020.

The Depth Reporting Program will launch a year-long project in January, Climate Change: What Could It Mean for Nebraska, in partnership with Humanities Nebraska and the Nebraska Community Foundation.

MobileMe&You conference celebrates fifth year

The fifth annual MobileMe&You conference was held Oct. 25-26 at the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. The conference, sponsored by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) and the University of Illinois College of Media, offers an opportunity to explore mobile media best practices with talks from top digital media experts.

New sports residence program connects professionals with CoJMC students

The University of Nebraska College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) is piloting a new initiative, the Roper Sports Reporter in Residence, to enhance the college’s growing sports program this fall. Professionals in the sports reporting field will visit CoJMC students weekly to answer questions and have meaningful discussions about issues in the field.

Justice and team with Emmy award

CoJMC alum part of an Emmy award-winning team

Michael B. Justice, a 1996 broadcasting and news-editorial graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, was recently part of a six-person team with NASA and SpaceX that won a National Emmy Award for the show “NASA and SpaceX: The Interactive Demo-1 Launch.”
