UNL CoJMC students earn honorable mention for inclusion campaign

The Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) recently announced that five University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) College of Journalism and Mass Communications (CoJMC) students received an honorable mention for their “IGNITE THE i IN IMC” public interest campaign.

CoJMC student makes top 10 in Hearst Multimedia III/Enterprise Reporting Competition

Nicole Harvey, a senior ADPR major at the CoJMC, won tenth place in the Multimedia III/Enterprise Reporting Competition of the 2018-2019 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. There were 72 entries from 41 schools submitted nationwide.

UNL students, faculty and staff to collect awards at Omaha Press Club

Six students from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln received scholarships and awards worth $14,000 from the Omaha Press Club Foundation last Friday, April 26. The organization also honored longtime UNL professor John R. Bender with its Journalism Educator Award.

The CoJMC recently was honored for four Society for Professional Journalists (SPJ) awards in Region 7. Winners were announced at the spring 2019 regional conference, which was held April 5-6, in Warrensburg, Missouri.

CoJMC alum brings home college’s first Hearst sports writing first-place win

Cody Nagel, a 2018 journalism graduate at the CoJMC, won first place in the sports writing competition of the 2018-2019 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. This marks the first time a CoJMC student has won first place in this category.

Full-time position on-campus interviews – ASEM Marketing Copywriter

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln has a copywriter position opening in the ASEM (Academic Services and Enrollment Management) Marketing office. Randon Coffey and Andrew Swenson, will be at Andersen Hall (room 138) on Thursday, April 4, from 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. to interview students graduating this May who are interested in applying for the full-time copywriter position.

CoJMC student makes top five in Hearst Photojournalism II– Picture Story/Series Competition

James Wooldridge, a senior journalism major at the CoJMC, won fifth place in the Photojournalism II- Picture Story/Series of the 2018-2019 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. There were 86 entries from 51 schools submitted nationwide.

Two CoJMC students win Hearst Multimedia II-News competition awards

Two CoJMC students have been named winners of the Hearst Multimedia II - News Competition of the 2018-2019 Hearst Journalism Awards Program. There were 52 entries from 31 schools submitted in the second multimedia competition of the year.

CoJMC senior accepts multicultural internship opportunity

 Suong Nguyen, senior advertising and public relations major at the CoJMC, was recently accepted to the 2019 Multicultural Advertising Intern Program (MAIP). The program is sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF) and provides students with a full-time, paid internship.
