Dean's Update: April 2024

We had packed house over the weekend as alums traveled across the country to celebrate the life and legacy of Professor George Tuck. Speakers included CoJMC alums Jennifer Gutierrez (‘90), Mike Theiler (‘76), Julia Dean (‘92), Joel Sartore (‘85) and George and Mary Lynn’s dear friend Sherri Johnson. Happy Homecoming Week! I’m looking forward to seeing you this Friday, from 5-8 p.m., for the CoJMC Homecoming Party. Partake in appetizers and adult beverages while meeting our new faculty, getting a sneak peek at the Agency Experience Lab and checking out the construction progress on the studio redesign. We’ll be making a big announcement about the studio at the party. I hope to see you there!

Study finds peer messages improve the chances of clinical trial participation

A recent study, “Effects of Communication Source and Racial Representation in Clinical Trial Research,” published in Health Communication, found that messages from peers improved participants’ attitudes toward clinical trials and increased the intentions to participate in future trials.

Name, Image and Likeness Program launches across campus

The College of Journalism and Mass Communications is one of the college partners for the new “#NILbraska” program. The Nebraska Athletics department introduced #NILbraska as a three-part initiative to help student-athletes gain Name, Image and Likeness experience.
