Michael Steven “Mike” Sweeney, emeritus professor of journalism at Ohio University and author of 25 academic and popular books, died on January 15, 2022, at his home in Athens, Ohio,  He was 63.

Two CoJMC students earn Gilman Scholarship for education abroad

In 2021, two College of Journalism and Mass Communications undergraduate students were among 31 who earned the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship to support credit-bearing study abroad, internship abroad, or virtual international opportunities.

Obituary: Jack Botts

Jack C. Botts, 97, died Thursday, January 6th in Lincoln. He was born in Ludden, ND, to Dwight and Velcie Botts. He attended schools in Ludden and Oakes, ND, and entered the Army Air Forces in 1943. He flew 51 missions in Europe as a radio operator in a B-17 crew based in Italy.

SLICE to host nonprofits in residence during the spring semester

The Student Leadership, Involvement and Community Engagement Center will host nonprofits in residence throughout the spring semester. Scheduled organizations will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Nebraska Union. Students can stop by to network and learn about industries, internships and volunteer opportunities.
