The University of Nebraska–Lincoln celebrated eight entrepreneurs from across the state and beyond who positively impact the future of entrepreneurship. CoJMC alum Vern Powers ('84), CEO of Hastings Industrial Manufacturing, was honored with a new award, the Jeff Vaske Service in Entrepreneurship Award.

Sports media and communication students and faculty to travel to Spain this summer

After a few years on hiatus due to the pandemic, students in the College of Journalism and Mass Communications will travel to Spain this summer to learn more about global sports, media and entertainment. For nearly three weeks CoJMC students will travel throughout Spain in participation of a 3-credit class led by sports media and communication associate professor, John Shrader. Shrader is familiar with the trip as he has previously taken students to Spain for similar study abroad trips.

Jacht Agency announces new members for Spring 2022

Jacht Agency is excited to announce its crew for Spring 2022. This year, 65 students were accepted into the competitive program. The student-run agency is composed of “Jachters”, both returning and new students from several backgrounds and majors at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL).

Communication Design workshops

Communication Design Workshops

Communication Design workshops are happening now through May and they're open to any CoJMC student. Get hands-on experience to help with learning software and equipment through a series of instructor-led workshops that take place in person at the scheduled date and time in Room 27 in the Andersen Hall lower level. They're free and if you're a student taking a Communication Design course (JOMC 131, 132 or 133) each workshop counts as 2 points of extra credit. Students can earn up to a total of 10 points of extra credit per class.

Huskers take first and 15th in the Hearst Audio Competition

Two Huskers placed in the national Hearst Journalism Awards Audio Competition on Feb. 9, 2022. Chase Porter, who graduated in May 2021 with degrees in broadcasting and philosophy, took first place. Ethan Petrik, a senior sports media and communication and broadcasting double major, placed 15th.
