Starita writes book on first Native American doctor, available now

Susan La Flesche became the first Native American doctor in the United States, but only after breaking down thick walls of ethnic, racial and gender prejudice. Professor Joe Starita wrote the book “A Warrior of the People,” to draw attention to La Flesche’s accomplishments and to bring light to the American West’s history through the eyes of a woman.

CoJMC and CBA students attend Society of American Business Editors and Writers conference

Students in the Financial Communications course, a joint effort of the College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the College of Business Administration, took in the sites in New York City and deepened their knowledge about business and financial journalism and investor relations in a trip to the fall 2016 conference of the Society of American Business Editors and Writers on Oct. 6 and 7.

CoJMC to host General Pershing talk by acclaimed WWI historian Mitchell Yockelson

Nationally acclaimed historian and author Mitchell Yockelson will discuss World War I General John J. Pershing in a free presentation at the University of Nebraska–Lincoln on Tuesday, Oct. 11. University of Nebraska–Lincoln’s College of Journalism and Mass Communications and the Department of History are hosting Yockelson’s visit.
