CoJMC receives Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award for Wounds of Whiteclay

The University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism & Mass Communications was awarded the Robert F. Kennedy Journalism Award from the Robert F. Kennedy Foundation for Human Rights on Monday, May 1. This award recognizes outstanding achievement in journalism at the collegiate level that focuses on social injustices and human rights. Only one school receives the award each year. The CoJMC was recognized for its work Wounds of Whiteclay.

Cordes, Hansen win 2016 Thomas C. Sorensen Award

Shively named Saltdogs' director of communications and broadcasting

Michael Shively, a 2016 University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism & Mass Communications alumnus, has been named the Lincoln Saltdogs’ new Director of Broadcasting and Communications. Shively’s responsibilities include being the “Voice of the Saltdogs” and broadcasting every game of the 2017 season.

Three students win grand prizes at National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition

Three grand prize trophies were awarded to University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications broadcasting students at the 2016-17 National Undergraduate Student Electronic Media Competition in New York City, March 25. Winners were recognized at the awards ceremony of the National Broadcasting Society-AERho 75th national convention.

Five students place across four Hearst Awards

Five students from the University of Nebraska­–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications have placed in the top 20 across four Hearst Journalism Awards competitions. Students in the top five receive a monetary award, while students who place sixth through 10th receive a certificate of merit.

Pinnow named Champion of PR

Brienna Pinnow, a 2007 University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications advertising alumna, was named a 2017 Champion of PR by PR Week. This award honors 40 women who work in marketing and communications positions, serve as mentors to women on their team and help define their company as sough-after employers of the future.

Wirth to be inducted into Nebraska Women Journalists Hall of Fame

Eileen Wirth, a 1968 University of Nebraska–Lincoln College of Journalism & Mass Communications alumna, will be inducted into the Marian Andersen Nebraska Women Journalists Hall of Fame on Saturday, April 29, in North Platte. Wirth will be recognized during Nebraska Press Women’s 2017 spring convention noon luncheon.
