CoJMC alumna launches new student organization

Molly Chapple, a College of Journalism and Mass Communications alumna and graduate student, has started an organization aimed at empowering women in Lincoln.

The organization, called Unleash Strong Women, will raise funds and collect feminine hygiene products for poor and homeless women in Lincoln. The products will be donated to the People’s City Mission.

Cindy McCaffrey visited the College of Journalism and Mass Communications last week and brought an entire career worth of knowledge with her. She was visiting University of Nebraska–Lincoln for the Alumni Masters Week.

Three CoJMC students receive Most Promising Multicultural Student (MPMS) awards

Three College of Journalism and Mass Communications students were recently named Most Promising Multicultural Students by the American Advertising Federation (AAF). Anna Fobair, Julia Nguyen and Wellesley Michael were each awarded the honor. Carlos Velasco, graphic design major and creative director at Jacht Ad Lab, also received the award.

Photojournalism students from the College of Journalism and Mass Communications will present “Global Eyewitness Uganda: Stories of Life, Death & Hope” Thursday, Nov. 16. The students, who were part of the Global Eyewitness photojournalism program, will display their photos from last spring’s trip to Uganda.

The class will be honored for its exemplary journalism that came out of the project, culminating in the 2017 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Journalism grand prize.

Leadership Lincoln launched a new brand image this fall designed by CoJMC students. The nonprofit organization partnered with Kelli Britten’s spring 2017 ad campaigns class. The class worked with Leadership Lincoln to research and design a new brand strategy for the organization.

Attend the "Black Jack Pershing: Love and War" screening

The broadcast premiere of “Black Jack Pershing: Love and War” coincides with this year’s 99th anniversary of World War I’s armistice.

The documentary, produced and directed by Professor Barney McCoy of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln College of Journalism and Mass Communications, tells the story of General John J. Pershing, commander of the American Expeditionary Forces in World War I and the only active duty six-star general in U.S. history.
