Recent faculty accomplishments: May 2021

Shari Veil received the Kappa Tau Alpha Outstanding Service award on April 30, 2021. Veil was also named a National Strategic Research Institute fellow, along with 30 other Huskers.

Professors Jessica Fargen Walsh and Jill Martin's research paper "A Study of Retention and Recruitment at Weekly U.S. Newspapers" was selected as the winning paper this week in the "Strengthening Community News" competition. The competition was sponsored by the International Society of Weekly News Editors and the Huck Boyd National Center for Community Media at Kansas State University. Walsh and Martin will present the paper at the annual conference of the International Society of Weekly News Editors, held virtually July 14-17. 

Adam Wagler was chosen as a Fellow for the 2021-22 Big Ten Academic Alliance (BTAA) Academic Leadership Program (ALP). Established in 1989, the BTAA ALP is an intensive experience that develops the leadership and managerial skills of faculty who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability and leadership promise.

Frauke Hachtmann's first paper from her new line of research about crisis advertising, titled, “What Ad Age’s A-List Agencies Learned from COVID-19: A Phenomenological Approach” was accepted for presentation at this summer’s annual AEJMC Conference.
